Voir Dire

Jury selection stages witnesses and canons before trial: who may sit, what biases are priced into the panel. Symbolic quartet in miniature—witness, canon, replicators of narrative, renormalisers of challenge for cause. The specimen is procedural: justice as maintained ritual expenditure. When voir dire becomes theatre without filtering power, the later verdict inherits an unpriced panel.
